DEMONS star Christian Petracca experienced the full brunt of Melbourne’s arctic weather high above the MCG turf on Monday.
And he said that bearing such conditions while homeless was something that no Victorian should have to endure.
Melbourne Football Club has again partnered with Melbourne City Mission, which will hold its annual Sleep at the ’G event on May 4, aiming to raise money and awareness for young people affected by homelessness.
The event sees hundreds of people sleep out in the members’ reserve section of the hallowed ground, showing solidarity with young Victorians who — at the same time — may be forced into unsafe housing or onto the street.
Petracca joined teammate Michael Hibberd on the top level of the ground on Monday in howling winds and rain.
“It really shows what young homeless people in Victoria go through every night with no shelter,” the gun Demon said.
“There is over 7000 Victorians without a home and it’s an underrated issue, I think.
“I’m really passionate about it and so is Melbourne City Mission. It’s something I really want to put a stop to.
“It’s an awesome partnership.”
