MELBOURNE’s win over Carlton has come at a cost with two key players offered multiple-week suspensions by the Match Review Panel.
Demons recruit Jordan Lewis has been offered a three-week ban after his crude off-the-ball hit on Carlton’s Patrick Cripps.
The force on Lewis’ hit was deemed to be high enough that it was worthy of a two-week ban; however Lewis’ suspension was impacted by his previous bad record, adding one week to the offence. Unfortunately for Lewis his bad record was set to expire in round 5.
Teammate Jesse Hogan is set to miss two weeks for striking Blue Sam Rowe. If he accepts the suspension Melbourne will be without their young forward for games against Geelong and Fremantle, while Lewis could also miss a clash with Richmond.
North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson will miss just a week after planting an elbow in the jaw of Cats star Patrick Dangerfield.
Sydney’s Zak Jones, Hawk Ben Stratton and Roo Braydon Preuss can all accept $1000 fines for separate incidents.
