THE BUZZ: AT 27, EDDY HAS FINALLY MADE IT
SUPERCOACH: THE BEST CHEAPIES IN 2017
SHAUN McKERNAN (ESSENDON)
Was third on the pecking order at Essendon until ruckmen Matthew Leuenberger and Tom Bellchambers went down with injury. After a starring performance against Geelong on Sunday will be elevated off the rookie list to lead the ruck against Hawthorn.
TOM STEWART (GEELONG)
The South Barwon rebounding defender did enough in the VFL last year to be taken by Stephen Wells at pick No.40 and has made every post a winner in the JLT series.
JASON CASTAGNA (RICHMOND)
The Tigers second-year rookie has kicked 5.3 as a small forward in three pre-season games and should be elevated by next Tuesday’s deadline and play against Carlton.
MABIOR CHOL (RICHMOND)
After a journey from South Sudan via Egypt and Brisbane, the rookie was so exciting against Collingwood in Moe that he is some chance to be elevated on to the primary list.
HENRY SCHADE (COLLINGWOOD)
The 23-year-old rookie defender played 20 games in five years at the Suns as a top-25 pick but will be elevated to play against the Dogs in Round 1.
DREW PETRIE (WEST COAST)
At 34, the ex-Roo was seen as a Hail Mary insurance selection by the Eagles, but with Scott Lycett (knee/shoulder) again injured, he will ruck with Nathan Vardy against Todd Goldstein and his old mates in Round 1.
