Hawthorn veteran Shaun Burgoyne to stay with Hawthorn and reject Gold Coast offer

After weeks of speculation he would join Gold Coast, Hawthorn veteran Shaun Burgoyne will reject a long-term deal with the Suns and stick with the family club.

What is the best mark of all time?

Shaun Burgoyne will stay with the Hawks on a one-season deal.

The Herald Sun understand he has agreed to re-sign with the club despite speculation he would move to the Suns.

The Hawks, thrilled he will push on at the club and chase 400 games, confirmed the Herald Sun’s report this afternoon, with football boss Graham Wright ecstatic to secure the four-time premiership star.

With 376 games under his belt he would need to play every game and two finals next year to reach the magical 400-game milestone.

But the Hawks are open to him going on past 2020 to chase that number if he can retain his speed and dodge the hamstring issues that saw him play only 18 games this year.

“We’re thrilled that Shaun has re-committed to the Hawks,” Wright said.
