GWS and Geelong to play historic double-header in opening round of AFL season
GWS will kickstart its 2020 campaign against Geelong in a match that will create AFL history. And footy fans can watch more footy next year as their men’s and women’s teams play back to back.

Geelong and GWS will play in a historic men’s and women’s double header in Sydney in Round 1 of the AFL season.
It’s the first time an AFL and AFLW game will be played on the same fixture.
There will be two other AFL-AFLW double-headers in Round 2 of the men’s season.

While AFLW games are free to attend, supporters will have to pay to go to the double-headers.
There are five AFL-AFLW double-headers, with two to feature in the pre-season.
It will be a considerable challenge for a new-look Geelong midfield up against the might of the Giants’ engine room in the Round 1 AFL clash.
The Cats lost Tim Kelly to West Coast in the trade period but landed Jack Steven from St Kilda and Josh Jenkins from Adelaide.

The Cats took on Collingwood in their Round 1 opener on a Friday night last season.
But the AFL has re-jigged things for the opening round of the 2020 season.
Essendon looks set to host its Round 1 home game at Marvel Stadium on either Saturday or Saturday night.
The Herald Sun confirmed Richmond will host the season-opener against Carlton in their traditional battle on opening night.
The Kangaroos were slated to take on St Kilda as part of the AFL’s Round 1 draft over the weekend.
