AS THE dust settles on the shock sacking of David Schwarz and Mark Allen at SEN, possible replacements are being thrown around with Dwayne Russell’s name prominent.
Russell is currently the co-host of Sports Today on 3AW where he also calls Friday night football, but the interesting part of that equation is he’s actually on Crocmedia’s books as they produce the nightly syndicated sports show.
And as we know, Crocmedia is about to officially merge with the company who runs SEN.
DOG FLAGS NAME CHANGE
BRIAN Harris changed his surname to Lake and won three premierships.
It’s a good precedent for Western Bulldogs players — (even though Lake did move clubs to achieve it) — and one which Clay Smith is considering following.
The midfielder married Sarah O’donohue in October and has started to process of adding her surname to his.
It’s already happened on Instagram with the 2016 premiership midfielder weighing up whether he does it in a professional sense also.
“It’s not official yet, but it will be,” Smith told the Bulldogs website.
“It’s more something I’ve taken on for Sarah’s side of the family.
“There were two girls and no more O’donohue’s. It meant a lot to her and her family.
“I don’t know if I’ll change it for footy but legally we’ll both have hyphenated names and so will the kids.”
Harris changed his surname in 2007 before moving to Hawthorn in 2013 where he won three consecutive premierships.
Other AFL players to change their names during their career include Max Rooke (from Jarad), Jasper Pittard (from McMillan-Pittard), Heritier Lumumba (from Harry O’Brien) and Beau Maister (from Wilkes).
CAN RICHMOND SAVE THE TIGER?
IS there nothing that Richmond can’t do?
After pulling off the most amazing premiership win with Dustin Martin dominating everything, they’re now being asked to take on an even tougher task.
Richmond has been contacted by the World Wildlife Fund to try and help save the tiger.
This is how far Peggy O’Neal’s club has come with the president even asked about the ‘Save-the-Tiger’ campaign at Monday night’s AGM.
It turns out that unlike the AFL team, the tiger is in serious threat of disappearing.
There were once nine subspecies who ruled the jungle, three are now extinct with the remaining six all endangered.
The AFL Tigers are in discussions with the WWF about a relationship moving forward with the club likely to help with raising awareness of the plight of the tiger.
