Ex-teammate Matthew Lloyd revealed Fletcher, who retired at the end of last year, wasn’t even allowed to watch his son play in a TAC Cup match at Essendon’s training ground last week.

“He’s not allowed to coach, be at his son’s footy team,” Lloyd said on 3AW.

“He’s not allowed to be the time keeper. He’s a coach of tennis – he’s not allowed to do that. He’s not allowed to have any role whatsoever.”

Fletcher, who played for a record 23 years at AFL level and is one of only four players in VFL/AFL history to have played 400 games, was one of the 34 past and present Essendon players banned for 12 months.

Lloyd, who is in Shepparton this weekend with Fletcher, said there was some conjecture about what the retired footy star can and can’t do at his son’s football games.

“The Calder Cannons were playing a game at the True Value Solar Centre last week. (He) wasn’t allowed to enter the True Value Solar Centre to watch his boy play,” Lloyd said.

“So that’s how far this has stretched to for these players.”
