CRAIG Hutchison’s battle to get SEN pointing in the right direction has taken a major hit with Eddie McGuire’s rival media company poaching a highly respected industry veteran.

CRAIG Hutchison’s battle to get SEN pointing in the right direction has taken a major hit with the poaching of a senior producer by his arch rival.

Jay Mueller has been the executive producer of Hutchison’s flagship show ‘Whateley’ since Gerard Whateley joined the station at the start of the year.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Whateley in his transition from the ABC with his show slumping from 3.7 to 3.1 in the most recent ratings survey.

Mueller is joining McGuire Media which sees him reuniting with Eddie McGuire who he worked alongside at Triple M for eight years as the producer of the ‘The Hot Breakfast’.

He had previously worked at 3AW with Neil Mitchell and the high-rating breakfast program Ross and John.

Mueller was a victim of timing having been appointed to a senior executive role at SEN by the previous management in October last year with a starting date of February 2018.

The problem was when he turned up on day one of his new job, the station had changed ownership with Hutchison already having his proposed position filled.

Mueller was then paired with Whateley given all the eggs were thrown into the new morning show.

Their partnership started with a trip to the Super Bowl while they also worked together on the coverage of the Australia’s cricket tour of South Africa.

It’s understood Mueller’s new role with McGuire Media is a wide-ranging development position across the business.
