COLLINGWOOD has abandoned its guernseys designed specifically for AFL football by dumping Star Athletic for sports brand ISC.
The Magpies’ 2017 playing kits will be made by the popular brand — which announced on Monday it had also added Essendon to its AFL portfolio — after the Herald Sun revealed earlier this year Collingwood had accepted a lucrative apparel sponsorship offer that Star Athletic didn’t match.
While Collingwood is yet to officially announce its new partnership, the club’s first-to-fourth-year players stepped out in ISC training gear on their first day of pre-season on Monday.
In photos that have been circulating online it appears the Magpies’ 125th anniversary logo will feature on its playing strip on the left breast under its sponsors logo.
Ahead of the 2013 season Collingwood spruiked its partnership with Star Athletic, a sports brand owned by AFL-approved licensee TPF, as boasting guernseys tailored to individual players.
At the time chief executive Gary Pert said: “The partnership with Star Athletic marries the science behind high performance with comfort and quality and we are looking forward to continuing the mission to create the best on and off-field apparel for our players.”
And Collingwood isn’t the only club to change up its playing strip for next year.

ESSENDON, in its partnership with ISC, has gone back to its roots by reintroducing a curved sash.
The Bombers’ guernsey featured a straight sash from 2011-16 in a design by former apparel partner Adidas.
The Bombers last wore a curved sash in 2010.

The WESTERN BULLDOGS won’t change their strip but will get some fancy bling.
The reigning premiers will wear a gold AFL logo throughout 2017 in recognition of their drought-breaking flag.
Since 2008, the premiers have earned the golden emblem - an idea that is also used in European and international soccer - with Geelong the first team to earn the honour after its 2007 triumph.

NORTH Melbourne has also announced a change in its uniform, opting to wear its predominantly blue strip as its home jumper next year.
The Kangaroos will wear blue shorts with the guernsey.
The club announced on Monday it has decided to wear last year’s away strip as its preferred one for the 2017 season.
“The decision to adopt the darker strip was partly because the Roos were frequently forced to wear white shorts with their predominantly white jumper at home games, giving the impression they were the ‘away’ side,” the club said of the change.
BRISBANE will wear a new design as its clash guernsey next season.
The design, which is mostly gold and maroon, pays tribute to the club’s Bears and Fitzroy heritage.
After years of criticism, the club dumped the “Paddlepop Lion” design last year and went back to the more traditional Fitzroy Lion, while using a largely Fitzroy design for Melbourne games.
HAWTHORN has also revealed a new clash strip, dumping the controversial “power rangers” kit it wore for two seasons.
The Hawks will wear a guernsey designed by a supporter after running a competition mid-season.
GEELONG, meanwhile has seemingly added an extra hoop to its guernsey after announcing last month a new partnership with Cotton On Group.
The extra strip of blue runs across the neckline of the new guernsey.
The Cats will also wear a jumper with short sleeves during the pre-season competition.
PORT ADELAIDE fan power again has shaped the Power jumper.
Exactly seven years after schoolgirl Lucy Burford (now 17) designed the black jumper with the white-and-teal “V” that won over the fans as the Power’s home guernsey, there is a throwback to the club’s SANFL past.
The white panel with the black number on the back of the jumper — symbolic of the Port Adelaide Magpies SANFL jumper since the 1950s — from next season will be a permanent part of the Power home guernsey.
“Our fans love the connection the jumper brings to the club’s Magpies heritage,” Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas told The Advertiser.
ST KILDA has also announced a new kit sponsor, linking up with BLK
