BARRY Hall promised excitement in a one-off appearance for local footy club The Basin, and he delivered more than anyone could have expected — or perhaps wanted.

Hall booted the first goal of the day and finished with four but the Bears went down by 46 points to Heathmont in the third division Eastern Football League clash.

But the biggest highlight came after the final siren when a local resurrected the almost dead practice of streaking, making a beeline for Hall wearing only his socks.

In the shadows of the Dandenong Ranges at Batterham Reserve in Boronia, it would have been a chilly experience — and Hall laughed it off.

The Basin president Alex Winters said during the week signing up the 40-year-old AFL legend for one game was “more about getting the whole community together, we’re trying to build a bit of excitement for the game and we’re hoping we can fulfil that deal.”

Interim Bears captain Luke Watson said: “We’ve got the old fossil coming down at the age of 40 but he’s still in pretty good shape by the looks of it.

“It’s an absolute honour when you think about it ... you’re playing with a premiership captain.

“We’ve had the likes of Clinton King play with us in the past and he’s AFL standard but I think Barry might have him (covered).”

Hall will complete his commitment to The Basin at a sportsmans night with Campbell Brown dubbed Browny and Bazza: Bad Boys of Footy.
