Food prices are set to freeze and fall at the footy in a win for fans flocking to AFL matches this season.
The cost of popular food and drinks such as pies, hot chips and burgers will remain at last year’s prices when the footy season gets underway at Marvel Stadium this month.
Some items such as coffee and hot dogs will be reduced at the AFL owned venue in a win for supporters before their teams even take the field.

More healthy food items will be added to the menu and the price of a pot will cost the same as last year.
Hot dogs will be given the biggest price cut, reduced by $1.10 to $5.50.
Cups of coffee, hot chocolate and tea will increase in size from 8oz to 10oz cups but be reduced 20 cents in price to $4.50.
The price of still and sparkling bottled water will drop 50 cents to $4.50.
And the cost of a kids food combo will be reduced by $3 to $6 and include a healthy option with a wrap instead of chicken nuggets and chips.
Marvel Stadium chief executive Michael Green said there was a push to make matches as affordable as possible for fans, particularly families.
“To cater to a range of dietary requirements, tastes and budgets, fans will find a wide-offering at Marvel Stadium in 2019, including healthy choices and gluten free options,’’ he said.
“While the pricing on some food and beverage items has increased slightly, pricing remains the same or has dropped on a large number of fan favourites such as hot chips, hot dogs, water and pies.’’
The price of pies ($5), large ($6.90) and regular ($4) hot chips, chicken or fish and chips $12.50) and ice creams ($5.60) will all remain at last year’s prices.
A beef burger and chips ($15.50) and fruit juice ($5.50) will also cost the same as last year.
Alcohol prices are yet to be confirmed but pots of Carlton Draught will remain $5.
A range of new food and beverage items will be added to the menu including a vegetarian pasty for $6.50, Margherita pizza for $14.90 and falafel burger for $11.00.
In a tip of the cap to Melbourne’s coffee culture, $1 babycino’s will be served at the stadium for the first time as well as chicken or vegetarian burrito bowls.
The only price rises are at speciality outlets where the cost of chicken wings ($12.20) and baked potatoes ($12.20) are up 20 cents and pulled pork sandwiches and souvlakis ($14.90) increase 40 cents.
Mr Green said the fan experience was “paramount’’ and this year’s food and beverage prices would reflect that.
“We would like to remind our visitors that they are permitted to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages to games at Marvel Stadium,’’ he said.
“The stadium also encourages guests to utilise the nine free water-refill stations that are located around the venue.’’
