IS THE Essendon drugs saga finally over?
All 34 players involved in the saga have now reached settlements with the club. The Bombers struck a deal with former players Nathan Lovett-Murray and Alex Browne over financial terms this week. They were the last two players to reach compensation settlements for damages caused by the disastrous 2012 supplements program. CATS v TIGERS LIVE: JOIN THE BLOCKBUSTER BUILD-UP Lovett-Murray was set to launch a Supreme Court damages claim before the parties reached an agreement on Wednesday. Essendon put out a statement after confirming all compensation claims relating to the 34 past and present players involved in the 2012 supplements program have now been resolved. Bombers CEO Xavier Campbell said the club was pleased to bring the matter to a close. “It’s has been a challenging and complex process,” he said. “I would like to thank the players and families for their patience and professionalism working through the process.” “The club, through its lawyer Ken Adams of Herbert Smith Freehills, and with the assistance of the AFL, worked hard to ensure a consistent and fair framework was established and adhered to throughout the process.”
