WEST Coast match-winner Jeremy McGovern has given younger brother, Mitch, a clip after his after-the-siren goal claimed four points for the Eagles.

Jeremy was only too happy to reveal his brother wasn’t happy about being one-upped. McGovern said his heart was in his mouth as his kick sailed toward goal. “I was hanging a fair bit out there, I was glad it came back,” he said. “I was aiming at the right goal post. It didn’t come off as sweetly as I would have liked, my heart was in my throat a little, but it went through.” There was confusion before the kick with Eagles players believing there was still more than four minutes on the clock but that didn’t bother McGovern. “There was a bit of confusion with four minutes or forty seconds,” he said. “We had a bit of a laugh afterward about it, but it worked out in the end.” McGovern also joked he was going to split the Mark of the Year prize with Fremantle’s Michael Walters after the Dockers star took a hanger over him in the Derby a fortnight ago. “I’m going halves with Michael Walters if he wins it. It was a ripper grab,” he said. However, he faces stiff competition from Isaac Heeney after his speccie in Sydney’s win over Melbourne on Sunday.
