CARLTON is yet to win a game this season and it comes as no surprise when you see these exclusive stats, while there are some statistical trend surprises as the Cats struggle in the midfield and the Eagles became the AFL’s best transition side.

CARLTON is yet to record a win this season and it comes as no surprise as its inability to score and create turnovers is exposed.

SEE THE CLUB-BY-CLUB NUMBERS THAT STAND OUT BELOW In exclusive statistical trends released by Champion Data for all clubs, the Blues’ deficiencies are glaringly obvious as they are ranked bottom three for goals per inside-50 (17th), opposition goals per inside-50 (17th), pressure (16th), pushing turnovers (16th) and quarters won (five of 16). SCROLL DOWN TO CATCH UP ON ALL THE LATEST FOOTY NEWS FROM AROUND AUSTRALIA West Coast has been one of the surprise packets so far this year and it seems coach Adam Simpson has implemented a game style and attack that has caught rivals off guard. His secret to success is becoming the top-ranked side for turning defence into attack. SEE THE CLUB-BY-CLUB NUMBERS THAT STAND OUT BELOW - Fewest stoppages since 2008 - Kick-to-handball ratio highest since 2007 - Most free kicks since 1999 - Most contested possessions on average since 1999 - Most inside-50s since 2000 ADELAIDE Has dropped from fourth last year to 15th in time in forward half and down 10 points a game from turnovers. BRISBANE LIONS Big improvements in contested footy and clearances but rank last for territory, forward-half intercepts and points from turnovers. Have scored a crazy 50 per cent of their scores from stoppages. CARLTON Not pretty reading in just about every category — percentage (18th), goals per inside-50 (17th), opposition goals per inside-50 (17th), pressure (16th), pushing turnovers (16th) and quarters won (five of 16). One positive — they had the second-youngest team in Round 4. COLLINGWOOD Across the competition teams are kicking more but the Pies are bucking the trend — they handball more than any other team. Also creating turnovers (ranked third in forward half) and 67 per cent of their scores come from the forward half — ranked No.1. ESSENDON Good to watch but is it sustainable? Rank 18th for forward-half stoppages and against Port Adelaide just 36 per cent of their scores were generated in the forward half. FREMANTLE Play the boundary line more than any other team. Have lifted their scores from turnovers by eight points a game as part of an across-the-board improvement. GEELONG Territory game in disarray — the Cats rank 18th for inside-50s, time in forward half and turnovers created in the forward half. Also have the worst clearance differential in the comp by a long way. GOLD COAST The highest kicking team in the competition with more than two kicks for every handball. Kick short the most and play on the least. Is Stuart Dew keeping it simple? GWS GIANTS Have improved their territory game but forward half pressure has dropped off without Zac Langdon. Still dominant around the contest. HAWTHORN Has become a stoppage team since last year’s bye. Rank second for clearance differential and first in scoring from clearances. MELBOURNE Strong brand but slumps in games are killing them. Went -37 points v Geelong in 25min, -42 v Brisbane in 29min, -24 v North Melbourne in 14min and -88 v Hawthorn in 106min. NORTH MELBOURNE Are they really rebuilding? Had the seventh-oldest team last weekend and eighth most experienced. PORT ADELAIDE Last year the Power dominated territory in several close losses but were hurt by their inability to convert. This year they are playing a different style, dropping from No.1 in scores from forward-half chains to No.16 and scoring three fewer goals from forward-half intercepts. RICHMOND Rank third for points for, third for points against and first for scoring from turnovers. Premiership game plan humming along nicely. ST KILDA Oh dear. Saints are ranked last for points scored and goals per inside-50, have conceded the third-most points against. Use the corridor more than any other team — up from 16th last year. SYDNEY Is their ladder position flattering? Rank 16th for time in forward half, 17th for inside-50 differential and 16th for forward-half intercepts. WEST COAST No.1 scoring team with most of their points coming via transition — the Eagles rank No.1 from moving the ball from defensive 50 to forward 50 and No.2 from defensive midfield to forward 50. WESTERN BULLDOGS Did Bevo turned them into a high-possession team after two rounds? Disposals are +73, uncontested marks +41, inside-50 differential +15 and time in forward half +12:31 in the past two weeks. Also the youngest and most inexperienced team by a long way.
