Every footy fan thinks they could be an All-Australian selector.

This year’s panel — which includes league boss Andrew Dillon, Laura Kane, Glen Jakovich, Nathan Buckley and Kane Cornes — met recently to debate a host of the competition’s stars, putting several big names on watch.

No name was more hotly-debated than GWS Giants captain Toby Greene, a three-time All-Australian who had 17 goals after 11 games this year.

“Who’s in front of him now? There’s a lot,” Jakovich said.

Nathan Buckley added: “I’d put Stringer in front of him … because they play a similar role. But let’s let him change our mind.”

Buckley had another Giant, Lachie Ash, on his watchlist before injury struck, while Collingwood's Darcy Cameron was the surprise ruckman in the discussion alongside Max Gawn, Brodie Grundy and Jarrod Witts.

“Your best three ruckman are Gawn, Grundy, Witts … sorry (and) Darcy Cameron. So we’ve got four and we can only go one ruckman,” Jakovich said.
