Triple M will be without one of their main callers for a couple of weeks with James Brayshaw on duty for Channel 7 at the World Test Championships.
This will also cause a shuffling of seats at Ch 7 with Hamish McLachlan set to move into the Friday night hot seat next to Brian Taylor for at least the Round 13 game between the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide.
Brayshaw will be at The Oval commentating on the World Test Championships final between Australia and India which starts tonight on Ch 7.
He will be joined by former Australian coach Justin Langer and other cricket greats including Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and Dinesh Karthik.
Shock ratings result for star-studded radio crew
The football radio ratings have thrown up a major surprise with Triple M taking an unexpected hit on Friday nights.
While the FM station has held its ground at No. 2 in the overall ratings behind powerhouse 3AW, its heavyweight Friday night team took an unexpected hit.
The Friday Huddle features some of the station’s biggest hitters led by callers Luke Darcy, Mark Howard, special comments pair Jason Dunstall and Nathan Brown along with journalist Damian Barrett.
They often enjoy putting the spotlight on their rivals but in the third survey of this year’s radio ratings it actually landed on them after they finished last.
In a figure which would shock Triple M executives, the Friday night team registered 3.6 to finish behind 3AW (10.2), ABC (4.4) and SEN (4.4).
There was a correction back to normal programming on Saturday where Triple M rated 7.9 (3AW 10.5) in the afternoon and 7.4 (3AW 10.2) from 6pm to 11pm.
One major positive for the network has been the introduction of former Geelong premiership star Steve Johnson to the Sunday Triple M team as a replacement for St Kilda coach Ross Lyon.
The move has worked impressively with the Sunday 12pm-7pm timeslot the closest in the footy ratings with Triple M at 7.5, just behind 3AW on 7.8. There is then a dramatic drop-off to SEN (2.9) and ABC (2.8).
