Media Street: Latest news and rumours from AFL television, radio and newspapers

Will Craig Hutchison’s ever growing media empire lead him to follow Caroline Wilson in vacating his Footy Classified seat?

Trade TV | Episode 1

Footy Classified is set for a shake-up next year with stalwart Caroline Wilson to depart the Wednesday night show.

Wilson, who has been with the Channel Nine footy program from day one, wants to scale back her involvement.

For the past two years the Age columnist and 3AW commentator has featured twice a week on the popular talk show after reducing her newspaper workload.

Wilson is still planning to appear on the Monday night edition in 2023.

Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd is the other panelist who has been doubling up since Footy Classified branched out into a second show on Wednesdays to much hype two years ago.

It signalled the return of Eddie McGuire as host with former Fremantle coach Ross Lyon also added to the line-up in his first foray into the media.

Radio jock Sam McClure, who is a regular fixture and fill-in host on the show, would be the front-runner to replace Wilson.

Once again there will be speculation over the summer about Monday night anchor Craig Hutchison’s future.

With his increasing commitments as boss of the Sports Entertainment Network, who owns radio station SEN, he is expected to assess if he has the time and energy to devote to the show he started back in 2007.

Hutchison and Wilson were joined by AFL greats Wayne Carey and Garry Lyon for the show’s debut.
