In a slap in the face for the league, its free-to-air television rights holder is going into another season without any additional programs outside of game broadcasts.
After copping a serve from the AFL about the lack of auxiliary programs during last year’s negotiations about a new TV deal, there was renewed optimism about a possible reboot of Game Day which had been a staple on Sundays until 2020.
But the word out of Seven’s Docklands bunker is that the old “budget issues” has been rolled out as a reason for ditching plans for a new show.

The lack of programming was discussed during the negotiations with an understanding Seven would make improvements in that area.
Seven are slashing costs across the board, recently pulling out of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
