Mad dash to see successful son Dane Swan

THE proud close-knit Swan family made an 11th hour dash to Crown to congratulate Brownlow Medal winner Dane Swan.

THEY vowed never to attend the Brownlow Medal presentation after last year's disappointment, but the Swan family made an 11th hour dash to Crown to congratulate winner Dane Swan.

The proud close-knit family - father Billy, mother Deidre and sister Bonnie - were among the revellers at the AFL after-party at Crown's Studio 3, despite Swan slipping out with girlfriend Taylor Wilson once the Brownlow presentation was over.

"We were in our trackies watching it on TV," Deidre said. "But we couldn't miss being here for him, he seems a little overwhelmed."

Younger sister Bonnie, 25, conceded her "cheeky" brother was probably on the money when he said during his acceptance speech she spent most of her time at the bar while attending his footy games.

Meanwhile, Wilson said she was feeling a little sluggish the day after.

"My teeth hurt this morning from smiling so much - I was so proud," she said yesterday.

Wilson said she was confident Swan would not be affected by the hype ahead of Saturday's Grand Final.
