Lions premiership player fighting for life after shocking incident
A Brisbane Lions premiership player is reportedly fighting for his life in hospital after he was involved in a freak accident.

Brisbane Lions premiership player Aaron Shattock is reportedly fighting for his life in hospital after being crushed under an excavator he was driving.

Shattock is in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital according to Nine’s Tom Morris.
He played 68 AFL games for Brisbane and Port Adelaide, most notably featuring in the Lions’ 2002 Grand Final win over Collingwood.
“It’s understood Shattock was driving the digger when it rolled, trapping him underneath,” Seven News reported.
“Emergency services had to use the jaws of life to free the 44-year-old before he was taken to hospital with severe chest injuries.”

Shattock retired from the AFL after the 2006 season, moving to Queensland and spending over a decade as player, captain, assistant coach and eventually senior coach with Labrador in the QAFL.
AFL journalist Tom Morris shared the news of the horror incident on social media as fans began hoping for everything to be okay.
“Some really concerning news out of Qld this afternoon,” Morris wrote.
“@brisbanelions 2002 premiership player Aaron Shattock was caught under an excavator he was driving and suffered life threatening injuries.
“The 44-year old is in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital.
“Thoughts are with his family, friends & former teammates who are rallying around him.”
