Liam Pickering provides update on playing futures of Daniel Wells, Jack Riewoldt, Nathan and Mitch Brown

DANIEL Wells is yet to decide whether he’ll depart Arden St amid interest from Collingwood and other rival clubs. Plus updates on Jack Riewoldt and Nathan and Mitch Brown.

SILKY North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells is yet to decide whether he’ll stay or depart Arden St amid interest from rival clubs.

His manager Liam Pickering confirmed on Monday Collingwood has tabled an offer for the 31-year-old to move to the Holden Centre, while Geelong “has got some interest”.

Wells will attend the Kangaroos’ best and fairest count on Friday night before making a call on his playing future.

“Nothing has been decided what Daniel is going to do as yet,” Pickering said.

“He’s weighing up Collingwood’s interest and a couple of other clubs have got some interest in him as well. But also what North Melbourne has presented to him.

“They’ve got their best and fairest on Friday night, we’ll get through that and then obviously make a call either way probably early next week.”

It has been widely reported the Magpies have tabled a three-year deal to Wells, while the Kangaroos have offered him a two-year contract, which Pickering confirmed were “around the mark”.

But while some believe his departure is imminent given he is yet to put pen to paper, staying at North Melbourne remains a genuine chance given his close bond with Lindsay Thomas.

“That’s (staying) absolutely a possibility,” Pickering told Trade Radio. “He’s quite close to Brad (Scott), very close to Lindsay (Thomas) obviously but he’s close to a lot of the other blokes he’s been there so long.

“They’re all the things Daniel and I will discuss that he needs to think through. There’s the extra year that’s been offered as opposed to a fresh start at a new club ... as opposed to where you’ve been, where you know and been through your whole career.

“He’ll work out what’s the right decision for him and we’ll try and work with him on that and getting it done.”

JACK Riewoldt is likely to remain at Richmond next season according to his manager Liam Pickering despite clubs calling to inquire about his status.

The Tigers spearhead’s name has been thrown up as one who could be on the move from Punt Rd in the lead up to the trade period despite declaring he has no interest in leaving.

He is contracted until the end of 2019 after re-signing last year.

Clubs have contacted Pickering regarding the status of the 28-year-old but there is no indication from Riewoldt or Richmond that he’s on the trade table.

“I haven’t had one discussion with Richmond about potentially him moving anywhere,” he said.

“There might be speculation but I can only tell you what I know, which is I haven’t had a discussion with Dan Richardson or Balmey (Neil Balme) since he’s taken over or any of the guys, Blair Hartley, about potentially Jack going anywhere.

“I wouldn’t think anything is going to happen there.

“I don’t think this is coming from down at Richmond, it seems to be coming from other clubs. Whether that’s after discussions with Richmond I don’t know.

“All I’m saying is from my end, if there was serious consideration to move Jack Riewoldt, I would think that I would have already had a discussion with or leading into the trade period, I’d have a discussion with Balmey and Blair Hartley and Dan and all those guys but that certainly has not happened, not once.”

COLLINGWOOD defender Nathan Brown and twin brother, West Coast’s Mitch, remain unsigned but Pickering doesn’t expect either to leave their clubs.

Both are restricted free agents and currently weighing up offers from the Magpies and Eagles respectively.

“They’ve both got offers from their current clubs,” Pickering said.

“There’s a bit of interest. Nothing has been decided either way, they’re weighing up the West Coast and Collingwood offers at the moment.

“I don’t think they will (leave). I wouldn’t think they’d both be leaving their clubs.”

Nathan has attracted interest from North Melbourne, while Mitch’s wife, Shae Brown has signed with Collingwood’s new netball team, sparking speculation of a return to Melbourne for the Ballarat product.
