JAEGER O’Meara has chosen Hawthorn as his destination club.
Gold Coast was informed today that its prized midfielder, who has not played a game in the past two seasons due to knee injuries, has requested a trade to the three-time premiership winning Hawks.
O’Meara’s future has been the subject of speculation all year, with the 2013 AFL Rising Star believed to have been deciding between Hawthorn and Essendon.
But O’Meara has opted for the Hawks.

Hawthorn and Gold Coast must now work to find a suitable deal during the AFL’s trade period, which starts on Monday October 10.
The Suns reiterated today it will trade O’Meara to a club that can provide a suitable deal.
“Today we were advised from the Hawthorn Football Club and Jaeger’s management that the Hawks is Jaeger’s club of choice,” football manager Ashcroft said.
“As has been previously stated, Jaeger is on the market to a club that can provide us compensation we are prepared to accept.”
The Suns were furious last month when O’Meara informed them of his desire to play elsewhere, with chairman Tony Cochrane blasting the youngster.
Suns serious with their threat of sending Jaeger to draft (Ess) if trade deemed unfair. Reckon they'd like a top-10 pick and quality player.

“If we can’t be compensated (adequately) then Jaeger can ride his luck and enter the draft. We are trying to build the Gold Coast Football Club in a very difficult, NRL-dominated, environment,” Cochrane said.
“We’re trying to have a fair-dinkum go, not make up the numbers, and we can’t afford to be losing blokes who just want to return to Melbourne and the big lights every year.”
