How Carlton fans feel about Charlie Curnow leaving the club
Charlie Curnow looks on the way out of Carlton after a decade in the Navy Blue — and the faithful are not happy. See what the Bluebaggers think of the star’s potential exit.
A tough season has carried over to a tough off-season for Carlton with the club’s superstar forward Charlie Curnow on the way out.
Curnow looks set to join Sydney on the final day of the trade period with the two clubs locked in negotiations over the 28-year-old’s future.
After 313 goals in navy Blue, the departure will be the end of an era after Curnow won two Coleman Medals while at the club.
This is how Blues fans are feeling about the impending exit.
CAROL
If Carlton let Curnow go they will lose thousands of members. Why would you sign a player up for 5 years and let him walk out after 12 months? It has taken 20 years to get a decent player. Unless Sydney will give Heeney for Curnow just say we are not interested and force Curnow to grow up and act like a man. Curnow owes Carlton and their supporters for all the times he spent on the sidelines injured where the club and their supporters got nothing and Curnow still got paid.
BRETT
He’s 28 so probably at his best currency for a trade now, as a Carlton supporter, if he doesn’t want to play with us, fine, see ya later and get the best trade we possibly can for him. The way we kick into the forward line the bloke probably doesn’t want another year of blokes landing it on top of his head … or getting his kicks up on the wing, because our forward coach doesn’t know that forwards have to play in the forward line.
PETER
Don’t do the deal Carlton. We want Curnow to stay.
Swans need to pay overs to extract him out.
ANOUSHE
Had his bad knee operated on in early Aug, therefore 5 months recovery, that was why he was limited this season. If the Blues get this trade wrong it will be devastating. Think hard Blues, Florent wasn’t valued at Swans otherwise they would not have told him to find a new home last week. Blues don’t need another VFL player. Need pick 22 for Khamis.
CHRIS
Look at Curnow laughing smugly like there’s nothing to see. There’s life long supporters who love the club and spend hundreds and thousands of their own money to support the club and he thinks it’s a big joke, after having signed a long-term contract. Shows his true colours
MATTHEW
Hold firm Carlton, no deal!
Hayward is a good player & Carlton tried to get him last year, but Florent spent part of the season playing VFL …
BRYAN
Will Hayward could kick as many goals as Charlie if given the right opportunity. And he chases.
BRIAN
Gee talk about loyalty to the jumper, signs a long term deal and then wants to cut and run. Believe he thinks Vossy is too tough, wonder how he would have coped with the likes of Barrassi or Parkin in full flight. Rather have a player who will chase rather than what Charlie has been dishing up last couple of years.
SALLY
No Deal. Florent was told to look elsewhere and Hayward is no better than Zac Williams up forward. Picks …. Its not about picks, give us Warner or Gulden and we can talk.
MAX
Make spoiled Charlie fulfil his obligations.
RICHARD
If Carlton keep him, what response can they expect from a player that wants to be elsewhere. Preferably Geelong. He is obviously not happy.
PAUL
At age 74 I’m a life long Carlton supporter.
Frankly, I’m sick of Charlie Curnow. He needs to grow up.
