CLASSIC couture could trump flashy flesh as Brownlow belles choose their gowns for football's big night.
Dramatic gowns in nude tones and plenty of brights are both among the early fashion tips as WAGs flood their favourite designers with requests to be dressed.
"Yellow and purple will still be there, I think you will see a few red frocks," designer Helen Manuell, of Manuell & Moore, said. "We don't want boobs and bum and all that kind of stuff on show - it's about the illusion of sexiness."
Manuell said she had plans to dress five Brownlow attendees.
Brownlow star maker Ruth Tarvydas said she would possibly opt out this year because many of her samples were overseas.
Meanwhile, the highly sought after J'Aton label is limiting itself to super-WAG Rebecca Twigley, despite being flooded with requests.
Among those who will set foot on the red carpet in a Manuell & Moore gown, Hawthorn star Luke Hodge's fiance Lauren Kirkman said an elegant flowing style was always a winner.
"Once you find a designer you are happy with, I think that makes it easier, but I think it's hard the first few years," she said.
