Gold Coast’s Bodhi Uwland to remain with the Suns for at least two more years

One of Gold Coast’s brightest young talents wants to ‘repay the faith’ shown in him after extending his stay with the Suns.

Gold Coast defender Bodhi Uwland will continue his “amazing journey” with the Suns after signing a two-year contract extension.

Uwland, 20, has this season made 14 of his 17 AFL appearances in a breakthrough campaign under the guidance of premiership-winning coach Damien Hardwick.

“It’s been an amazing journey so far with the Suns, and I’ve absolutely loved being a key member of the team and having the trust from the coaches to go out and do my job each week,” said Uwland, who was a Rising Star nominee in Round 12.

“To be able to play for the team I grew up supporting as a kid is a privilege I will never take for granted.

“I just want to continue to repay the faith the club has shown in me and do everything I can to help the club win and succeed in the years to come.”

Suns national recruiting manager Kall Burns said Uwland, a Gold Coast academy product, had “impressed everyone at the club with his tenacity and work ethic” after overcoming stress fractures in his back in 2022.

“It’s pleasing to see Bodhi gain some continuity in his football after overcoming several injury setbacks early in his career,” Burns said.

“Bodhi lets his actions do the talking on the football field and is the type of player who lifts those around him, so we are pleased to have him at our club for at least another two years.”

The Suns will chase their ninth win of the season on Sunday when they host Port Adelaide at People First Stadium.
