The prestigious Geelong College lays claim to having produced more than 100 VFL/AFL players over the years.

Geelong Football Club’s best-and-fairest award is named the Carji Greeves Medal, after Geelong College graduate, 1924 Brownlow Medal winner and two-time premiership player Edward ‘Carji’ Greeves.

A four-time Cats’ best-and-fairest and Geelong Hall of Fame member, Dick Grigg is also a Geelong College product.

The same goes for former Cats’ champion and 1962 Brownlow Medal winner Alistair Lord.

In more recent times, the school has also had plenty of stars.

David E. Clarke is another Geelong Hall of Fame member.

He won a club best-and-fairest in his debut season in 1971 and won two more as well as Geelong’s leading goalkicker award in 1979 as part of a career that spanned 202 games with the Cats.

Clarke was also a runner-up in the best-and-fairest four times at Geelong, before finishing his career with nine games for Carlton in 1982.

Other current AFL players to hail from Geelong College include Carlton brothers Ed and Charlie Curnow, St Kilda forward Mason Wood, Geelong livewire Tom Atkins, West Coast defender Alex Witherden and Geelong backman Lachie Henderson.
