AFL players don’t mind having a bit of fun with the media on their own terms, and Tony Jones is the latest victim.
Players don’t usually show too much personality during regulation media commitments — including press conferences and crosses on live television — such is the intense media training at clubs.
But recently North Melbourne pair Drew Petrie and Nick Dal Santo, St Kilda’s David Armitage and Essendon’s David Zaharakis have broken the mold by nailing Jones. And there’s nothing he could do about it.

In recent times, the Channel 9 journalist has earned a new nickname within the industry, ‘Chompers’, a reference to his perfect pearly whites.
Petrie on Wednesday night was the latest AFL player to stitch up Jones during an interview broadcast live.
After answering several questions, Petrie ended the interview by saying “thanks chompity chomp, chomp, chomp.”
Teammate Dal Santo went one step further last month by signing off with a chomping sound.
Jones was not impressed.
Is it a coincidence this is happening during live crosses from the set of The Footy Show and seemingly being a weekly occurrence?
Tony Jones fuming after copping the 'chompers' tag every week from the footballers is never not funny #9News
