ADELAIDE

B: B.Frampton, J.Butts, L.Brown

HB: B.Smith, T.Doedee, C.Jones

C: J.Dawson, R.Laird, L.Sholl

HF: N.McHenry, E.Himmelberg, R.Sloane

FOLL: R.O’Brien, B.Keays, H.Schoenberg

I/C: M.Crouch, L.Murphy, J.Hately, J.Rowe

IN: Jackson Hately

OUT: Mitch Hinge (injured)

There are plenty of Crows pushing for a senior spot with Adelaide’s state league team top of the SANFL. Jackson Hately had 35 touches and a goal last time out to continue his impressive start to the season and Mitch Hinge’s corked hip might clear a spot for the former GWS Giant.

CARLTON

B: S.Docherty, L.Young, N.Newman

HB: A.Saad, J.Weitering, Z.Williams

C: W.Setterfield, M.Kennedy, S.Walsh

HF: Z.Fisher, C.Curnow, M.Owies

IN: Marc Pittonet, Corey Durdin, Paddy Dow, Liam Stocker

OUT: Patrick Cripps (hamstring), Lachie Fogarty (omitted), Jack Martin (omitted), Lachie Plowman (omitted)

The Blues are breathing a sigh of relief that Patrick Cripps’ hamstring injury isn’t as serious as some feared. Given what we know of Cripps, he will be pushing to prove his fitness, but the club is likely to err on the side of caution in the hope he might miss only one game. Marc Pittonet was sorely missed and will likely return. Corey Durdin is out of health and safety protocols. Oscar McDonald will be tested later in the week and if he is fit, he could yet take the place of Lewis Young. Paddy Dow and Liam Stocker are right in the mix again after solid VFL form.

Foll: B.Grundy, P.Lipinski, J.Crisp

I/C: J.Noble, O.Henry, R. McInnes, T. Wilson

Two big losses for the Pies this week with Jamie Elliott out for an extended period and Brody Mihocek entering the AFL’s health and safety protocols. Jack Ginnivan is sore and will also miss a week. Jordan De Goey and Taylor Adams return to take on the Lions, Jordan Roughead is finally back from injury, while the Pies will be hoping Nathan Krueger can prove his fitness in the main session later this week.

IN: Jordan De Goey, Taylor Adams, Nathan Krueger, Jordan Roughead

OUT: Jamie Elliott (shoulder), Brody Mihocek (Health and Safety Protocols), Jack Ginnivan (sore), Jack Madgen (omitted)

ESSENDON

C: A. McGrath, J. Caldwell, N. Cox

HF: D. Smith, S. Draper, N. Martin

F: A. Perkins, P. Wright, A. Waterman

R: A. Phillips, D. Shiel, D. Parish

I/C: D. Heppell, B. Hobbs, S. Durham, M. Guelfi

IN: Nik Cox, Devon Smith, Ben Hobbs

OUT: Will Snelling (calf), Brayden Ham (omitted), Tex Wanganeen (omitted)

This could be the week, Essendon fans: a fresh Ben Hobbs may be handed a debut after being held over as a non-playing emergency last weekend. Nik Cox (ankle) could not prove his fitness in time for Sunday’s clash with Adelaide but should return to face the Dockers on Saturday. Expect Devon Smith to keep his spot after a lively second half as the medi-sub, with luckless forward Will Snelling set for a stint on the sidelines following another calf injury. Versatile Tom Cutler will be firmly in the mix if he is out of the health and safety protocols, while Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is performing well at VFL level but is still a couple of weeks away from being ready for a senior return.

FOLL: S.Darcy, W.Brodie, D.Mundy

I/C: C.Serong, N.Erasmus, M.Frederick, J.Aish

IN: Darcy Tucker, Calebb Serong, Alex Pearce

OUT: Brandon Walker (omitted), G.Logue (omitted), T.Colyer (omitted)

Rising star Caleb Serong could return for the Dockers for their trip to Marvel Stadium to take on Essendon after missing the last two games with a knee injury. Darcy Tucker could also return after missing the win over GWS with a concussion. Alex Pearce was a late scratching for the win over the Giants but could return this weekend.

I/C: T. Atkins, R. Stanley, M. O’Connor, M. Duncan

IN: Tom Stewart, Joel Selwood

OUT: Luke Dahlhaus (omitted), Quinton Narkle (ankle)

Cats skipper Joel Selwood (rested) will be back for Easter Monday and licking his lips at the prospect of playing Hawthorn at the MCG after they were torn apart by St Kilda. Luke Dahlhaus could be an unlucky omission from the win over the Lions, after inclusion Gryan Miers had a career-high 25 possessions in his first game for the season. Tom Stewart (gastro) will return to the backline, with Quinton Narkle (ankle) and his medi-sub replacement Zach Guthrie making way from the side. Esava Ratugolea will likely return from his ankle injury through the VFL.

OUTS: Jack Lukosius (injured), Jy Farrar (injured)

Jack Lukosius succumbed to a suspected knee injury in Sunday’s win over Carlton with the club set to send him for scans this week. Jy Farrar also injured his hamstring during the same game and is in some doubt to play this weekend.

Nick Haynes will be a much welcomed return for the Giants after he failed to overcome a fitness test last week. Matt Flynn will get a reprieve for the suspended Braydon Preuss while it might be worth throwing exciting swingman Jake Riccardi forward.

I/C: J. Impey, C. Nash, D. Howe, N. Long

IN: Tom Phillips, Liam Shiels, Ned Long

OUT: Will Day (concussion), James Worpel (omitted), Connor MacDonald (rested)

Will Day is an automatic out after entering the AFL’s concussion protocols, while 2019 best-and-fairest James Worpel (five disposals, one tackle) faces the axe after a disappointing start to the season. Connor MacDonald looks due for a rest after struggling on Sunday, opening the door for fellow draftee Ned Long to make his debut after his match-high 10 tackles in the VFL. Tom Phillips and Liam Shiels both made a strong case for selection with 28 disposal efforts against Sandringham. If Kyle Hartigan recovers from injury in time he may be thrown straight back into the seniors to wrestle with a red-hot Tom Hawkins.

NO CHANGE

No Injuries for the Demons out of last week’s win over Port Adelaide. Ben Brown won’t be back after copping a suspension for striking in the VFL on the weekend. That means Sam Weideman should get another opportunity after being quiet in a scoreless match last week. Harrison Petty would be a chance to come back into the defence after returning in the VFL on the weekend.

Out: C.Zurhaar (concussion)

Cam Zurhaar will miss the Good Friday clash with the Bulldogs under concussion protocols. Richmond exposed the Bulldogs’ backline with height last weekend, which the Kangaroos might also consider by adding another tall like the 199cm Charlie Comben.

OUT: O.Wines, S.Mayes, J.McEntee

The winless Power will lose Ollie Wines for this weekend’s clash against Carlton after the reigning Brownlow Medallist was subbed out of the loss to the Demons with a heart issue. But Ken Hinkley’s side could get two big inclusions with Robbie Gray a good chance of returning while Aliir Aliir could make a quicker than expected return after syndesmosis surgery. Scott Lycett is still in the mix to take on the Blues after dislocating his shoulder but Sam Hayes could get an AFL debut with Lycett banged up. Jeremy Finlayson kicked six goals in the SANFL.

In: Nick Vlastuin

Out: Josh Gibcus (omitted)

The Tigers were quite strong across the board in an upset win over the Western Bulldogs on the weekend. But someone looks like having to be squeezed out, with star defender Nick Vlastuin expected to be ready to return from a hamstring injury. Josh Gibcus has made a great start to his career in his debut season but could be the unlucky one to go out. Kane Lambert played a half in the VFL on the weekend in his return from a hip injury, but is unlikely to be rushed back.

R: R. Marshall, B. Crouch, J. Sinclair

I/C: B. Paton, S. Ross, M. Wood, B. Long

IN: Jack Hayes, Jack Higgins

OUT: Paddy Ryder (suspended) Marcus Windhager (omitted)

Jack Hayes will come back in for the suspended Paddy Ryder, while Jack Higgins’ third-quarter burst against Fremantle could be crucial as he tries to force his way back into the side that demolished Hawthorn on Sunday. Marcus Windhager looms as the unlucky omission after 15 disposals and four tackles on debut, with captain Jack Steele flagging a return to defence for Brad Hill despite his four goal haul. Jack Bytel (24 disposals, six clearances and a goal), Mitch Owens (23 disposals) and Dean Kent (21 and two goals) were the standouts in Sandringham’s loss to Box Hill, but the Saints are fast becoming a tough side to break into.

Lance Franklin will spend at least two weeks on the sidelines opening the door for young forward Logan McDoanld to return to the senior side. The first round draft pick kicked 3.4 and had 16 disposals in an imposing VFL performance on Saturday. Meanwhile, Sam Wicks (HS Protocol) should come straight back in if available for the unlucky James Bell.

Just when the Eagles found a win and were starting to get some players back Adam Simpson’s side suffered a huge blow with star ruckman Nic Naitanui set to miss significant time with a knee injury. This opens the door for Bailey Williams to come into the side to provide Hugh Dixon with support in the ruck. The Eagles could get three huge inclusions with Elliot Yeo, Tim Kelly and Luke Shuey all good chances to return this week.
