1. Adelaide
Played: 22, Won: 17, Lost: 5, Pts: 68, Percentage: 141
The Crows can sew up the minor premiership with a win over North Melbourne having already locked in a home qualifying final with their thrilling win over Collingwood on Saturday.
2. Geelong
Played: 22, Won: 16, Lost: 6, Pts: 64, Percentage: 140.7
The Cats got a nice percentage boosting win over Sydney at the SCG on Sunday, which has them well and truly on track for a top two spot given they have Richmond at the MCG next week in a clash they should win comfortably.
3. Brisbane
Played: 22, Won: 15, Drawn: 1, Lost: 6, Pts: 62, Percentage: 114.3
A top four spot is well and truly up for grabs for the Lions after their big win over Fremantle out west. Brisbane would definitely take this after its injury issues this year.
4. Collingwood
Played: 22, Won: 15, Lost: 7, Pts: 60, Percentage: 123.1
The Pies’ losing run continued as the Crows finally tasted victory in a close one against them. Craig McRae said he is seeing some positive signs but Collingwood need to get that winning feeling back – and soon.
5. Hawthorn
Played: 22, Won: 15, Lost: 7, Pts: 60, Percentage: 122.7
The Hawks continue to end the season strongly with a convincing win over the Demons. They have a tough test in the reigning premiers in their back yard as they attempt to keep this run going.
6. GWS
Played: 22, Won: 15, Lost: 7, Pts: 60, Percentage: 115.5
Their upset win over the Suns has the Giants locking in a finals spot, it will now be about can they get themselves into double chance contention?
7. Fremantle
Played: 22, Won: 15, Lost: 7, Pts: 60, Percentage: 108.6
Are the Dockers going to again blow a chance to make finals? The loss to Brisbane means that their clash against the Bulldogs is going to be an early elimination final with the winner going on to September action and the loser on holiday – unless the Suns somehow lose their two matches.
8. Western Bulldogs
Played: 22, Won: 14, Lost: 8, Pts: 56, Percentage: 140.3
The Bulldogs did what they had to do and gained some potentially vital percentage in the process as they smashed the Eagles. If they can keep the winning run going against Fremantle they will play finals.
9. Gold Coast
Played: 21, Won: 14, Lost: 7, Pts: 56, Percentage: 121.2
Are they getting nervous at Gold Coast? The loss to the Giants means that a first ever finals appearance is dependent on the Suns winning at least one of their final two games. But the good news is their opponents are Port Adelaide and Essendon sides who can’t wait for the season to end.
