The Herald Sun’s The Sourcecolumn reported Finch and wife Elli Johnston “are now no longer together”.

The pair married in 2018 and share a three-year-old daughter Mackenzie, and Johnston had publicly stood by Finch throughout the judicial process.

The situation has now taken a dramatic turn with the Richmond superstar reportedly entering the drama.

The Herald Sun reports there are rumours swirling Johnston, who is the daughter of Carlton club legend Wayne Johnston, has moved on with the three-time Norm Smith medallist.

The 41-year-old first met Finch in 2013 and has never publicly said their relationship is over.

Martin, meanwhile, continues to fiercely protect details of his private life and has previously refused to comment on dating rumours.

In 2021 Aussie supermodel Jessica Gomes also refused to respond when asked about rumours she was dating the 31-year-old footballer.

At different times over the past few years Martin has been linked to Sydney food blogger Tania Acitelli, Phoebe Carpenter, who once dated rugby league star Mitchell Pearce, and model Chontelle Berryman.

Johnston, meanwhile, said told News Corp in December that the family needed time to “heal”.

“It’s been an extremely traumatic situation for myself, Mackenzie & Brett. And now (we) need time to heal individually and as a family,” Johnston said.

Following Finch’s sentencing, Johnston’s posted a photo of her daughter on social media and called her the “most resilient little girl”.

Finch, 41, admitted to sending a series of sexually charged voice messages about young boys in a gay sex chat service.

However, he blamed his offending on his cocaine addiction and explained it was part of an ill-conceived attempt to obtain drugs.

During a sentencing hearing, Finch told the court that he had struggled with drug addiction since his retirement and at one point was using up to 25 grams of cocaine per week.

He said he was told by a drug supplier that he could use FastMeet to source drugs.

Furthermore, he claimed that during one of his three stints in rehab, he heard gay men talk in group therapy about methamphetamine making them “hypersexual”.

Finch explained that in his mind if he left a “twisted” message, those that responded would likely be high and would be able to help him score drugs.

Judge Phillip Mahoney described Finch’s scheme as “patently absurd” and called the messages “morally reprehensible”.

However, he found they were made “out of desperation” to feed his chronic cocaine addiction, noting all the messages were left between midnight and 7am.

“I therefore accept that the offender’s motivation was, given his addiction to cocaine, borne out of his desire to obtain drugs,” he said.

Judge Mahony said the messages could “only be described as highly depraved and sexualised content referring to boys” but also accepted they were driven by Finch’s desire to score cocaine.

Finch pleaded guilty to one count of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material after he was arrested in his Sans Souci home in December last year following a 13-month police investigation.

He was handed a two-year sentence to be served in the community that requires him to be of good behaviour and undergo psychiatric treatment.

Finch was warned by Judge Mahony that if he reoffended over the next two years he could be brought back before the court and sent to prison.
