More than 1000 footballers from around Australia have nominated for next week’s AFL national draft, where around 70 dreams are set to become a reality.
The final list of draft nominations circulated to clubs includes 1044 names.
Nominations closed at 3pm on Wednesday, a week before the first round of the national draft is held at Marvel Stadium next Wednesday night.
Top-10 prospects Levi Ashcroft, Finn O’Sullivan, Sid Draper, Jagga Smith, Harvey Langford, Josh Smillie, Harry Armstrong and Tobie Travaglia all feature on the list.
So, too, do 58 recently-delisted AFL players searching for another opportunity – some of whom have been told they will be re-drafted as rookies by their current clubs for 2025.
Players from the Coates Talent League dominate the list, with 229 nominations.
There are also 185 hopefuls from the VFL, along with more than 100 players from each of the SANFL and WAFL.
The youngest nominee is West Australian defender Clancy Dennis, who does not turn 18 until December 28.
The oldest nominee is Shaun Di Gregorio, a 52-year-old from the Port Melbourne Colts Masters Over 35s side.
Those not selected in the national draft next Wednesday and Thursday will have another chance to find an AFL home in the pre-season and rookie drafts next Friday.
