Fremantle forward Tom Emmett has been rubbed out for a crucial Saturday clash against Geelong after being suspended for a dangerous tackle.

Emmett caught Essendon’s Jayden Laverde red handed in the second quarter of Sunday’s narrow MCG loss.

But the Docker appeared to sling Laverde around to bring him to ground, with the Don’s head hitting the turf.

While Laverde’s right arm appeared to be free, he was assessed for concussion and played out the one-point thriller.

Emmett’s tackle was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, leaving him with a one-week ban.

His suspension, if the Docker’s don’t challenge, could open the door for veteran Nat Fyfe to return from his own one-week ban.

Emmett, 22, has become a regular in Justin Longmuir’s side as a hard running forward who provides midfield assistance but he only had four disposals and one behind in the win over Essendon.

The Dockers led that game by 25 points in the final term and appeared to be marching towards the top four before letting it slip and sliding down the ladder to fifth at the end of round 21.

The Cats will travel to Perth off a narrow win over Adelaide, with Geelong sitting above Fremantle in fifth.
