DEFENDER Paul Seedsman says Collingwood is determined to eradicate inconsistencies in Monday's Queen's Birthday clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

Seedsman said complacency was not a concern against the struggling Demons, and the Magpies would focus on fewer lapses and more intensity.

"We haven't played a full four-quarter game all year," Seedsman said.

"So our main goal is to play four quarters this week against Melbourne and hopefully not ease up at any stage like we have in the past couple of weeks.

"Obviously we were good in the first half against Brisbane and then faded in the second half, so a four-quarter effort this week is our main goal."

Seedsman said he was also focused on building on his own game after a stand-out performance in last week's win over Brisbane at the Gabba.

The 21-year-old half-back flanker had 28 possessions in one of his best performances for the club.

"I was obviously happy to have an impact and do something for the team, but I've got to look forward to this week and back it up," Seedsman said.

"It is no good playing one good game and then having a stinker the next week. I am looking forward to getting out there against Melbourne and playing well."

Seedsman said his game had benefited from the advice of mentors Scott Pendlebury and Heath Shaw.

"Everyone knows Pendlebury is one of the ultimate professionals in the game and he's helped me with off-field stuff as we well as on-field," Seedsman said.

"And Heath Shaw is one of the best one-on-one defenders in the game.

"He can play on talls, mediums and smalls so his versatility is there and when we get the ball he is also one of the most damaging offensive half-backers.

"That's the position that I have been playing lately so I just try to learn from how he goes about it."
