ANDREW Krakouer made a stylish return from a week off football to help Collingwood VFL side's record a 28-point win over Coburg.

Magpie fans were also buoyed by the sight of former Hawks midfielder Clinton Young, who emerged unscathed in his first full match for his new club.

Krakouer, who did not play last weekend for personal reasons, gathered 29 disposals (eight clearances) and kicked a goal in the 18.10 (118) to 13.12 (90) win.

"Today he played like a really good, quality AFL player and he was probably classiest player on the ground," Collingwood VFL coach Dale Tapping said.

Young, picked up by the Pies as a free agent last year, suffered a hamstring injury in Round 1 but was solid in his comeback game.

He finished with 17 disposals and five marks.

"It was really pleasing (to have Young back) and he certainly showed his class," Tapping said.

Tapping also lauded the efforts and leadership of Jordan Russell (21 disposals), while Tim Allan was a standout with five goals.

Tapping said forward Alan Didak, while also listed as an emergency for the seniors, withdrew after hurting his leg on Saturday.

Richmond's Sam Lonergan (27 disposals, six tackles and 13 clearances) was superb for Coburg, while Matthew Arnot (27 touches) was handy. Luke McGuane was dangerous up forward, finishing with 3.3, including four contested marks.

Williamstown kept a top-four spot in its sights with a 55-point win over Essendon at Burbank Oval. Young Bulldog Lachie Hunter kicked three goals.

Box Hill moved to the top of the VFL ladder after a six-point win at Sandringham.

St Kilda-listed forward Terry Milera (five goals) kicked a late goal to bring the Zebras within range but the Hawks held on.

Meanwhile, North Ballarat caused one of the upsets of the season by downing Port Melbourne at North Port Oval by 10 points.
