Carlton fans revolt, call for Michael Voss to be sacked after falling to 0-3

Michael Voss’ tenure as the coach of Carlton is under intense scrutiny with fans calling for the club to make an immediate change.

Bulldogs have goal taken away after divisive score review

Carlton fans have lashed out overnight in the wake of the club’s horror collapse on Friday night against the Western Bulldogs.

The Blues made a brilliant start to the match with seven first-half goals but coughed up a halftime lead for the third straight week.

An eight goal to four second half saw the Dogs walk away with the 12.11 (83) to 11.9 (75) win and leave the Blues at 0-3.

In an even more alarming stat, the Blues have been comprehensively overrun by their opponents in second halves to start the year, being outscored 8.19 (67) to 22.12 (156).

The latest loss left fans seeing red with one man finding himself in the gun of every angry supporter … Michael Voss.

Voss is currently in his fourth season as the coach of the Blues, but if fans have their way it will be his last.

As is custom following any match, the club posted the result to their social media pages … what unfolded in the comment section made for ugly reading if you’re Voss.

One fan wrote on X: “0-3 for the first time since you sacked Brendon Bolton in 2019, also losing 10 of your past 12 matches. Is Michael Voss just so stubborn? or does he genuinely not know how to improve his game plan?”

A second added: “Voss needs to either stop being so stubborn and shift the game plan or bugger off. Same thing, week after week.”

A third wrote: “If Voss could please f*** off that would be great. We’ve had some sh*t coaches but he’s the biggest clown I’ve ever seen.”

Voss was left to lament the latest capitulation and said it all came down to composure when the game was up for grabs.

“Probably through the third quarter, it felt like our inside 50 entry was off and we fuelled their game, invited them back in,” Voss said.

“In the last quarter we didn’t have the composure; we gave away eight free kicks in the last quarter, we’ve just got to get better.”

Despite falling to 0-3 to start the season, Voss remained confident in how the Blues have played.

“I am really confident in the manner and the way we play and I could spend a lot of time on the numbers but it’s not going to matter because the numbers actually stack up OK,” he said.

“But it’s the small moments that is enabling the opposition to get back into the game, it’s been on our boot and we haven’t been able to finish the deal.”

Fans who were already angry after the loss, erupted like a volcano after listening to Voss’ press conference.

One wrote on X: “There’s always f***ing excuses and f***ing spin. F*** your stupid metrics mate YOU ARE NOT UP TO THE JOB. Get the f*** out.

A second added: “Ya cooked Vossy. Couldn’t coach at Brissy. Still can’t coach at Carlton. Best thing you can do is call it and pull the pin while you can.”

Voss however wasn’t alarmed by the lacklustre start to the season, believing the Blues are just around the corner from putting it all together.

“In the context of the season, we’re at the start, so there’s plenty of runway,” he said.

“But we’ve also got feedback to suggest we’ve got to get better. We’ve got some real parts of our game that are a bit more obvious than others.

“When you watch us play and see the better parts of our games, it’s worth persisting with. But the message will be pretty simple from me, make sure we get really clear on our roles, continue to keep playing us and at the right times we need to put composure in games and we’ll keep coaching it.”

The Blues are now barrelling towards a Thursday night blockbuster against Collingwood 0-3. If they’re able to beat the Pies, they have the opportunity to square the ledger quickly with two winnable games against West Coast and North Melbourne to follow.
