Carlton fans have their say on Michael Voss, Tom De Koning, Harry McKay and the 2025 season

Michael Voss’ future. Tom De Koning’s free agency call. A potential Harry McKay trade. The state of the list in general. We asked Carlton fans the big questions – and here’s what they said.

We asked 28 blues fans the important questions surrounding the club’s players and coaching outside Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.

See all their responses and have your say below.

Do you want to keep Tom De Koning or let him go?

65% per cent believe TDK should take the money and go to St Kilda. They believe he’s not worth $1.7 million and would be happy with the first-round compensation pick.

35% wanted De Koning to show loyalty to the club and take the pay cut to stay. If he were to take the money, he’d be the most paid player in the competition.

What they said

“I’ll drive him to Moorabbin myself”

“Look you can’t turn down the bag sometime, 1.7 (million) is a lot, so yeah he should go”

“If I was Tom De Koning I’d leave, although St Kilda are pretty rubbish so if he leaves he’s not getting much out of it”

“He should stay and I reckon he will stay”

“It’s all on him. I love him as a footballer, he’s going to be incredible but if you want two million dollars or close to it, we can’t afford that right now and it’s time probably to go if you want money”

Should Carlton trade Harry McKay?

62% believe in keeping McKay. A lot argue the key forward position is hard to find and having a Coleman medallist in that position is worth keeping. Others argued that the picks they would receive for him wouldn’t be worth letting him go.

The remaining 38% would be either happy to see him leave for the right price or, at a bare minimum, see what the offer is.

What they said

“Definitely not, big forwards like that don’t grow on trees, we love Harry”

“If we can get a top ten pick for him then it’s time to move him on”

“Probably not, a Coleman medallist. If times are as dark as they seem then sure maybe for some picks but other than that there’s no reason to get rid of him”

“No keep him unless other clubs offer us something really good”

“I don’t think you’re going to get what he’s actually worth so there’s not point”

Is Michael Voss the right man to lead Carlton in 2026?

63% believe that Voss is the right man for the head coaching position in 2026. Most believe other coaching staff and board members are to blame for the on-field fallout.

10% per cent were adamant that it’s not the coaches’ fault for poor on-field performances and that the blues can’t keep sacking coaches. Most of these answers believe the issue is injuries and the playing list’s depth.

27% were more than happy to see him go by the season’s end.

What they said

“I’m not Voss out but I’m definitely not Voss in”

“With Graham Wright coming in, give him one more year, get the list right and the right management and give him one more”

“Definitely, 100%”

“Could be, if he’s got the right people around him”

“Sometimes it’s not just the coach”

What is the biggest positive out of the 2025 season?

42% were thrilled with the Blues young players getting minutes in the AFL program with the likes of Ashton Moir, Will White and Matt Carroll playing a high number of games this year.

19% were happy with the seasons of Jack Silvagni, George Hewett and Nick Haynes, who have all played exceptionally well throughout 2025.

24% thought the season ending is the biggest positive.

15% were happy with the reception and consistency in crowd number throughout the year, regardless of the success of the team.

What they said

“It’ll be in seven weeks time when the season actually finishes”

“Silvagni and a couple of the young guys coming through”

“The boys are still having a go but they need to work it out”

“Probably when we get a back to back win”

“I think we are doing a lot right, we just need to finish off our work”

Negative answers were spread amongst the fans

“Same old bomb it long, you cannot win playing a 90s style game”

“The lack of pace”

“When we have a good lead and drop off, I’d like the club to come out and tell members what is going on inside the club and why are we dropping off in games?”

How would you rate the standard of the club’s playing list out of 10 – and why?

What they said

“Our best six are absolutely a nine or a ten, but when you get to players 15 and below it drops to a three or four”

“We’ve got the key pillars we need in attack, defence and midfield”

“The list is an eight, no first round pick but we might get compo for TDK so that will help us out”

“Five at best”

“I think we are too top heavy with to many guys taking up majority of the cap space which makes our bottom five or six below par compared to other teams.”
