YOUNG defender Caleb Marchbank has officially requested a trade away from the GWS Giants at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has played only seven games for the finals-bound club after being selected with Pick 6 in the 2014 national draft.

As reported by foxfooty.com.au in June, a host of Victorian sides — including Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood and St Kilda — are interested in acquiring the highly rated 193cm defender.

“We will now endeavour to complete a trade that is beneficial to the club,” the Giants said in a statement released on Thursday.

Marchbank played the first two games of this season, before his campaign was interrupted by a series of ankle and shoulder injuries.

Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers, the teenager has averaged 19 disposals and seven marks per game from 17 NEAFL matches since arriving at the Giants.

Marchbank is one of a number of talented young Giants coming out of contract at the end of this season, with midfielder Jack Steele and forward James Stewart yet to decide their future.
