It's footy's night of nights, and a chance for players - and their partners - to grab the headlines away from the dramas of the game itself.
Some have done it by accident - the brown velvet suit made famous by 1977 winner Graham Teasdale was a last-minute replacement after a formal hire shop lost his paperwork - while others have been more brazen in their efforts.

In 2004 Chris Judd's then girlfriend Rebecca Twigley dropped jaws across the country with her red dress. Others have gone for the "less material, more skin" look with less flattering results.
Dresses made of football leather, footy records, signed by every club captain and featuring the top eight teams spelled out in gem stones in ladder order have all made appearances on the red carpet, while Andrew McLeod's wife Rachael painted her husband's number on her back in silver glitter.
And Dr Geoffrey Edelsten's wife Brynne has brought her own unique flavour to the event in recent years.
