Bachar Houli is looking for two victories on the MCG this weekend.
Houli, who will line up for Richmond on Saturday and is considered a genuine chance to take out the Norm Smith medal, heads up the Bachar Houli Academy which will take on AJAX on the hallowed turf on Sunday.
The game brings together Islamic and Jewish youth and will be played as part of the MCG’s open day, with the Jolson/Houli Unity Cup up for grabs.
“Win or lose this week, Sunday will be a great day because these boys will get a chance to play on the MCG, what a privilege and honour that is,” Houli said.
“This year … we’ve created the theme around unity and harmony and it’s just a great opportunity for young men from different backgrounds to come together and enjoy the game that everyone loves in this country, being football.
“More importantly, the opportunity the MCC has provided us to use the ground post-Grand Final, that’s something we’re extremely humbled by and proud of.”
Houli said he was “all for” premiership medals to be awarded for players beyond the 22 that will take the field in Saturday’s flag decider against Greater Western Sydney, citing injured defender Alex Rance as one worthy of a medal.
“I’m sure if we win, there’ll be some sort of medal around his neck, from a player or coaching staff,” he said.
