Richmond and AFLW player Jess Hosking have received an official warning from the league over offensive language written on athletic tape she wore during last week’s semi-finals.
Seven reported Hosking had been handed a please explain by the AFL after she wore tape on both shoulders and upper arms with messages written on them.
The messages were clearly visible during the game, most appearing to be supportive as one would see written on a cast, but one very visible one said “kill bitches”.
Furphy has made the commitment to provide equal support to its AFL and AFLW teams. Don’t support the AFLW? Unbelievable.
“It’s these unsavoury comments that have drawn the ire of the league, Hosking receiving a formal warning by the AFL,” reporter Mitch Cleary explained.
“It was at the game at Punt Road on the weekend and it was visible during the broadcast, clearly written by someone else.
“Hosking though has taken full ownership.”
In a statement the AFL confirmed Hosking had apologised for the messages.
“Hosking was extremely remorseful and deeply disappointed in her actions,” it read.
“The AFL has since accepted a letter of apology from Jess and has issued an official warning to the club and Jess regarding the offensive language.”
