Olympian and Adelaide AFLW star Erin Phillips covets Commonwealth Games OPALS comeback

Erin Phillips plots golden hoops haul at Commonwealth Games.

High flighin' Erin Phillips

Erin Phillips is eyeing a Commonwealth Games gold medal to accompany her WNBA and AFLW championship silverware.

Adelaide returns for pre-season training on November 20 in its title defence. However, Phillips is considering a return to the hoops at the March Gold Coast Games following the AFLW season.

Phillips, 32, will have a familiar face and coach in charge of the Opals. Sandy Brondello was Phoenix Mercury’s successful boss in 2014 when Phillips won a second WNBA title to back her 2012 success with Indiana Fever.

“We will see how it goes. I haven’t put any pressure on myself and I will have that chat with Brondello,” said Phillips with legend Brondello appointed Opals coach this year.

“I haven’t ruled it out.”

Phillips scooped team and individual accolades in the inaugural AFLW 2017 winning the league MVP and flag with the Crows.

Phillips was best afield in the Crows 2017 grand final triumph against Brisbane on the Gold Coast.

Phillips returns wiser and hungrier from her wildly successful initial, AFL foray.

“The girls have great motivation and attitude. There is no hangover from last year’s premiership that’s for sure,” Phillips told Channel 10.

“Last pre-season I tore my quad second session in so I spent pretty much the whole season on the rehab list so I learnt from that mistake.”
