Adelaide’s victorious women’s footy players returned to the site of their historic 45-point grand final win on Thursday night for a lap of honour in front of Crows fans.
The players walked a lap of honour around Adelaide Oval prior to the opening bounce of the Round 3 Crows versus Geelong AFL game.
Adelaide won its second AFLW premiership in three years on Sunday, thrashing Carlton in front of 53,034 fans.
On Friday morning, the players fly to Darwin for their Club Champion night, to be held at Darwin’s Convention Centre on Friday night, with Erin Phillips hotly tipped to take out her second club award.
It’s been a stellar season for the co-captain, who this week added the AFLW’s best and fairest award to her grand final best-on-ground and premiership medals. She was also named the AFLPA’s MVP.
Phillips, who is expected to undergo knee surgery next week after rupturing her ACL on Sunday, won the inaugural club champion award in 2017.
Fellow co-captain Chelsea Randall – rumoured to be pursued by AFLW expansion club West Coast for next season – is the reigning club champion.
