AFLW Draft 2023: Full list of player nominations and selected state

569 players have nominated for the upcoming AFLW Draft – see every name, who might be taken early and your club’s selections ahead of the trade period.

A total of 569 players have nominated for the upcoming AFL Women’s draft with the majority of those hoping to jag the eye of recruiters happy to play anywhere in the country.

AFLW allows players to nominate a particular draft state or players can nominate in the national pool, indicating they are willing to be picked up by a team in any state.

The draft is set for December 18 and will see the next generation of female talent given their shot.

Early picks in the draft are expected to include the likes of Victorian pair Alyssa Pisano and Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner, South Australian Piper Window – who has won two SANFLW best and fairests – and Elaine Grigg and Western Australian Ella Slocombe. Tasmanian small Brooke Barwick is also expected to go early.

According to the list obtained by this masthead, Caitlin Couch – who hails from South Adelaide – and Jade McGee are the oldest player to nominate, both turning 35 this week.

Former Collingwood and Richmond player Christina Bernardi is throwing her hat back into the ring for another crack at the top level.

Tall Oakleigh utility Jemma Rigoni is nominated for Victoria having been nominated by Melbourne under the father-daughter rule, after her father Guy played 107 games for the Demons.

A number of Irish players have also nominated for selection.

The AFL on Thursday morning released the preliminary draft order, which is set to shift over the next seven days as trade period begins.
