A million dollars could be on the line in a blockbuster final-round clash in the AFLW next month.
The league has scheduled a match between the Brisbane Lions and Melbourne as part of a ‘Super Saturday’ to finish the home-and-away season.
The two clubs – who both sit top-four on the ladder – are firmly in the running to take out the McClelland Trophy and the $1 million cheque that comes with it.
That trophy will be awarded to the top club of 2023 across both the men’s and women’s competitions.
The league is also taking the game to Far North Queensland in the final round – which runs from November 3 to 5 – with the Gold Coast Suns set to tackle Essendon in Mackay.
Collingwood’s match with Richmond at Victoria Park could have finals implications for both sides, as could Carlton’s clash with St Kilda at Ikon Park in an intriguing final day of the regular season.
Round 10 will also double as Pride Round for the competition.
“(The final round) has been set up to provide a thrilling conclusion to the home and away season whilst also taking into consideration the potential number of days break for teams heading into the first week of finals,” head of broadcast operations and scheduling Josh Bowler said.
The last round of the season was left as a floating fixture before being locked in by the league on Tuesday.
