One of the most famous surnames in Carlton history will remain at the club for at least the next two seasons after Jack Silvagni inked a new deal with the Blues taking him through to the end of the 2025 season.

In another boost to the Blues as they head into a preliminary showdown with Brisbane, Silvagni has agreed to stay with the club where his father Stephen and grandfather Serge both carved out considerable legacies.

As the Herald Sun reported last week, the 25-year-old forward was always keen to stay with Carlton and is understood to have taken a pay cut on the new two-year deal, despite some early interest from rival clubs which faded.

Silvagni has endured a difficult season after battling knee issues as well as question marks about his future in the final year of his contract.

He has played 16 games this year, but was overlooked for the Blues’ semi-final win over Melbourne last week, given a lack of match conditioning.

Carlton head of list management Nick Austin said the new deal was a reward for Silvagni’s competitive drive.

“It is great Jack has recommitted to the Club until 2025. Jack consistently puts his body on the line for the Club and has that competitive edge which we love,” Austin said.

“Along with his football smarts, his versatility to play on all areas of the ground is a real asset for us and we look forward to evolving his role further in the coming years.

“Once out on the field he always gives 100 per cent, and we are glad (the) announcement recognises the hard work he continues to put in both on and off the field.”

Silvagni has played 115 games with the Blues for 87 goals.
