LIONS coach Chris Fagan is thrilled that a player of Joe Daniher’s calibre wants to join Brisbane.
For so long an unattractive proposition for potential recruits and a club that struggled to keep players. the Lions have turned that around with their on-field success under Fagan.
Daniher wants to leave the Bombers for Brisbane, with Fagan admitting to having spoken to the 26-year-old forward.
“It’s been good for us that a number of players are wanting to come to our club in more recent times,” the Lions coach said.
“But there are players going to other clubs as well. I don’t think we’re anything special in that regard.”
Talks have begun between Essendon and Brisbane over Joe Daniher.

But they are reportedly far from smooth.

Fagan said apart from his chat with Daniher, he has had “nothing to do with the process”.
“The best people to comment on that, other than me saying it’s really good that he’s indicated he wants to come to our club, are (football manager) David Noble and (list manager) Dom Ambrogio.”
Daniher is a restricted free agent, with the Lions and the Bombers reportedly at loggerheads over compensation for his services.
Fagan this week told 3AW: “He is looking forward (to joining the club). Obviously it hasn’t happened yet and there’s a lot of water to pass under the bridge, but I guess the first step is making a decision about where you want to play your football and he’s done that.”
