The AFL Integrity Unit is reportedly investigating an incident involving Brisbane player Dakota Davidson, after a patron allegedly abused her from the sidelines in her side’s win on Sunday.

AFL Media’s Gemma Bastiani reported on Monday afternoon that Davidson reported a person outside the field of play to on-field umpires at three-quarter time, before becoming notably upset.

Bastiani noted that the patron in question was identified swiftly, and subsequently kicked out of RSEA Park.

There is no indication yet as to what was said to the Lions key forward, however it is believed to be surrounding her appearance – and was evidently strong enough to leave her in tears.

The club stated, via AFL Media, that they were grateful for the promptness from all involved.

“The club was made aware of an incident between a patron and Dakota Davidson during the match against St Kilda yesterday,” Brisbane said.

“The club would like to thank the match manager, St Kilda players, staff and fans along with the security at the venue who dealt with the incident, the matter has been referred to the AFL Integrity unit.”

Last year, the league raised the penalty for vilification from a three-year suspension to a lifetime ban from all AFL and AFLW matches.

Davidson is a dual premiership player at the Lions, and has played nine of Brisbane’s 10 games so far in 2024.

Brisbane’s finals campaign will kick off this Sunday afternoon against Hawthorn in a qualifying final against the second-placed Hawthorn.
