AFL Draft 2025: Live updates, news and every pick from round two

The AFL Draft’s second night promises high stakes as clubs face tough decisions between securing local talent and preserving draft points.

North Melbourne holds the all-important first pick of night two on Thursday night, as clubs begin to jockey for the elite talent still left available in the 2025 AFL Draft.

It’s expected we’ll only see another 25-30 picks on the second night of the draft, as clubs like St Kilda, Collingwood and Port Adelaide get their first chance to find the next generation.

Other clubs such as Carlton and Sydney will be active too, as they do the merry-go-round to keep their tied prospects such as Jack Ison or Max King close to home.

With the evidence we saw tonight, clubs are more than willing to bid on rival talent in order to make them lose their all-important points.

The Swans let Lachie Carmichael walk to the Dogs in order to preserve their points.

10 years ago, they faced a similar situation, this time with Josh Dunkley and that didn’t work out so well.

“That could be the next Josh Dunkley right there,” Saints great Leigh Montagna said.

“Hopefully it doesn’t bite the Swans on the backside.

“But they had to consider the points and some other players, they might have guys on their draft board they’re still keen on, like Max King.”
