Richmond got a close look at another pair of top-15 draft prospects in the VFL on the weekend as the Tigers all-but locked themselves in for the No. 1 pick.

Dandenong Stingrays onballer Harvey Langford made his state-league debut in Richmond’s final-round win over Carlton on Sunday.

A powerful 190cm midfielder who was a joint winner of the Larke Medal in this year’s under-18 national championships, Langford gathered 12 disposals, eight inside-50s and two clearances in a nine-point win.

That match also saw Bendigo Pioneers utility Tobie Travaglia line up in his second VFL match for the Blues.

Potential No. 1 pick Jagga Smith – who had featured in Richmond’s past three VFL matches – returned to the Oakleigh Chargers on the weekend and racked up 42 disposals and a goal in a loss to the Greater Western Victoria Rebels.

Richmond suffered a 63-point loss to Hawthorn at AFL level on Sunday, leaving the club one game and 2.7 per cent adrift of North Melbourne in the bottom spot on the ladder with one round remaining.

Meanwhile, power key forward Jobe Shanahan put on another show for Essendon’s VFL side on Sunday, booting five goals from nine disposals and four marks against Coburg.

The 194cm first-round draft prospect from the Bendigo Pioneers has kicked 11.3 from his three state league matches for the Bombers.

Essendon also debuted father-son prospect Noah Caracella (11 disposals) and Next Generation Academy member Jayden Nguyen (16 disposals, five marks) in that match.

Eastern Ranges midfielder-forward Christian Moraes recorded 10 disposals and two score involvements in his VFL debut for Box Hill on Sunday, while Western Jets midfielder and halfback Lucca Grego collected 10 disposals and kicked a goal in his second VFL match for Williamstown on Saturday.

Gold Coast Suns Academy prospect Leo Lombard had 14 disposals and three clearances in his side’s 88-point thumping of Casey on Saturday.

In the SANFL, Adelaide father-son prospect Tyler Welsh produced his best senior game of the year for the Crows.

The 191cm marking forward kicked five goals from 12 disposals and six marks in a win over Port Adelaide.

Top-10 midfield prospect Sid Draper returned from a week’s rest to rack up 23 disposals and six clearances for South Adelaide in a loss to Woodville-West Torrens.

One of the contenders to be the No. 1 draft pick in 2025 – Dyson Sharp – made a splash in his SANFL league debut for Central District, logging 14 disposals, six clearances, 10 tackles and one goal.

Sharp only turned 17 in May but impressed as a bottom-age player for South Australia in this year’s national championships.

Two of Western Australia’s top draft prospects for this year again featured in senior football for the WAFL, with Bo Allan collecting 10 disposals for Peel Thunder and Malakai Champion having seven disposals but being kept goalless for the first time from four games for Subiaco.
