More than 800 players have nominated for this month’s AFL national draft, including many likely top-10 picks.
Sam Lalor – a leading contender to join Richmond as the No. 1 pick – is on the list, as is Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Levi Aschcroft and fellow top-five fancy Jagga Smith.
Top South Australian prospect Sid Draper has also got his nomination in, as have highly-rated Victorian hopes Harvey Langford, Harry Armstrong and Alix Tauru.
Essendon Next Generation Academy member Isaac Kako – who has said he wants to bring a bit of Hawthorn flair to the Bombers – is also on the list.
Recently delisted AFL players Curtis Taylor (North Melbourne), Kaine Baldwin (Essendon) and Mitchell Hardie (Geelong) have also put their hands up for another crack at the top level.
Taylor said in October that he would keep himself “fit and motivated” after being left “shocked” by his delisting at the Kangaroos, while Hardie said recently that there had been “a little” interest shown in him by clubs after he finished fourth in the VFL’s J.J Liston Trophy with the Cats.
Nominations are set to close November 13.
The national draft is being held across two nights on November 20 and 21.
